There will be an Open Lecture in the Town House, Haddington on Wed 16th Nov 2016 at 14.30.

Speaker: Dr Lewis Killin, Clinical Studies Officer, Scottish Dementia Clinical Research Network

This is an NHS based portal for everybody to get involved with research.
Ken Lawson, who is the newly appointed Join Dementia Research (JDR) Champion may also be able to come along with Lewis to talk about his experience with dementia.

Title: The Landscape of Dementia Research in Lothian

Abstract: Dementia is a growing national public health issue, as Scotland is expected to see the number of people with dementia double by 2030[1]. The Scottish Government's proposed 2016-2019 Dementia Strategy[2] highlights the need to support and fund clinical research through the Scottish Dementia Clinical Research Network (SDCRN). The Network is an NHS organisation that has been promoting and conducting dementia research in Scotland since 2008, and has dedicated study officers spread across the country. The Network works alongside a nationwide recruitment portal, Join Dementia Research (JDR), which provides everyone the opportunity to get involved with research. In this talk we will outline the scope of the Network, the research that is taking place in Lothian, and how to be a part of it with JDR.
